A new dwelling in the historic town of Aberaeron, Cardigan Bay, for a retiring couple; on a donor site, on the outskirts of the planned coastal town, an agglomeration of rural typologies are pieced together to form a rambling home on three stepped levels. Planned around a private courtyard space onto which all ground floor rooms look over, the home is set within a new garden landscape as diverse as a woodland glade to a south facing terraced potager. Designed to accommodate the needs of an ageing client, the home can expand to accommodate visitors, but also contract to provide essential accessible accommodation on a single level.
